Following a late night drive from Yorkshire back to Scotland Team Plowman Craven's Evan Oliphant and James McCallum participated in the Scottish Road Race Championship held over 82 miles.
The race set off at a fast rate of knots with an early break of 7 going clear, Oliphant and McCallum choose to keep their powder dry, their decision proved to be correct and with 30 miles covered the race came together again for a brief period. McCallum saw his opportunity and led a small group clear, Oliphant bided his time behind as other riders chased McCallum's group and following their capture he went on the offensive.
Oliphant was joined by 5 others including 3 riders from PedalPower, the group began attacking Oliphant, waiting for the right combination he moved clear from the group with Gary Hand (PedalPower) with only 3 miles remaining. Oliphant took him all the way to the line opening up his infamous sprint with 300 metres remaining, easing only when his victory was assured.
Oliphant was happy with his days work "Jimmy and I really want this; we travelled back up after the Crit champs last night and were keen to perform. It could have been either of us on the top step of the podium today."
